Homer High School and Homer Elementary School

to Benefit from AITC Mini-Grant

Claiborne Parish Farm Bureau has received a $500 mini-grant from the Louisiana Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation. The purpose of the grant is to increase AITC involvement at the parish level by funding projects that will enhance agricultural literacy. The Claiborne Parish mini-grant funds will be used to purchase books and supplies to develop and implement lessons and projects that foster agricultural literacy. As part of a literacy initiative designed to improve reading fluency, Homer High School will partner with Homer Elementary for the 2016-2017 school year. Teams of high school students will serve as volunteer readers in the elementary classrooms, where they will also introduce hands-on activities coordinated to the book presentations. Elementary teachers who participate in the literacy program will receive free books and materials for their classrooms.
