Homer High School seniors met in the new Media Center to enjoy a powerpoint presentation by Lacy Camp, a student recruiter from Louisiana Tech University. Lacy, a Homer High School 2013 graduate, talked to the seniors about preparing for life after high school. She encouraged them to enjoy their senior year, but also to work hard preparing for the next step after graduation. Students were given information on financial aid and scholarship application deadlines, as well as tips on applying for campus jobs and participating in campus organizations and student life. Student athletes were also encouraged to register for the NCAA Clearinghouse, or NCAA Eligibility Center as it is now called. Lacy talked to the group about the importance of improving their ACT scores, and she advised them to schedule campus visits or tours. Ms. Camp’s visit and presentation are part of the continued efforts to help Homer High School seniors with successful career choices. Recent additions and renovations to the school library will allow seniors to work on college applications, research scholarships, and print resumes for job portfolios in the Media Center computer lab.
