Letter from CPSB Superintendent

Dear Claiborne Public School Families,

As most of you already know, Governor Edwards officially closed public school facilities for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. However, learning will continue thru distance education means, as well as paper packets. Each teacher is preparing packets to provide some excellent learning opportunities for the remainder of the school year. Please check with your school’s website or Facebook page to see when packets will be available and how they will be distributed. Social distancing will continue to be observed during this process.

What a year for our seniors!!! This is a situation that we have never dealt with before and hopefully never will again. I believe our Seniors of 2020 deserve a ceremony to celebrate their accomplishments! While the graduation exercises will not take place on the scheduled dates in May, we will reschedule our graduation ceremonies as soon as the restrictions are lifted by Governor Edwards. These ceremonies may not be like our traditional ceremonies and might have to be held at other venues. Thank you seniors for all the hard work and your continued efforts during this pandemic!

Seniors should also expect to receive a letter soon from their school explaining how final grades will be calculated. Please be looking for that information to arrive at your home and respond to it promptly once you receive it.

If you haven’t signed up for the free meal delivery, please do so right away. A link to sign up is posted on the Claiborne Parish Facebook page. We look for deliveries to begin in the near future.

Stay home and stay safe.

William Kennedy
